Jodi Harvey-Brown is a Pennsylvania-based artist who makes elaborate 3D book sculptures out of pages from old books. Her amazing creations take the idea of a “pop-up” book to a whole new level.
Jodi explains on her site.: ” I have always loved art, and I have always loved to read. Books pull you into a new world, while art lets you see it. It made sense to me that these two mediums should come together. The books that we love to read should be made to come to life. Characters, that we care so much for, should come out of the pages to show us their stories. What we see in our imaginations as we read should be there for the world to see. My book sculptures are my way of making stories come alive. ”
When did Jodi Start Creating These Book Sculptures?
Jodi started creating these book sculptures one day after she bought a box of used books from a second-hand shop. One of the books was crushed so she began folding its pages, the rest is history.
Jodi has created book sculptures out of some of literature’s most famous characters, like Harry Potter, Tom Sawyer, and Daenerys Targaryen (from “The Game of Thrones”). She also has created sea creatures, ships, monsters, and aircrafts from pages of books. [Source}
